"Vimto" (smudgey)

It's been a bit chilly over the past two days here in Pensacola, and I think that caused the adhesive of the dealer sticker on the trunk of my Panther to finally give way. I closed the trunk and it fell to the floor
Unfortunately, it took some paint with it. Probably because it was just stuck on top of the previous sticker.
Where do I go from here? I assume the patch of missing paint will grow if I just leave it. I really want to get the car resprayed Kona Blue, but that isn't really in the budget at the moment. (Nor will it be for many years).

Forget the paint, you need to get that "Longwood" plaque back on there ASAP. Find the dealership and get another one if you have to.

They've changed their name to Central Florida Lincoln since my car was sold in 2007 it would seem.

i bet the easy way out would be to just get a new lid at a junk yard. i'd imagine there are a few of those around, especially in florida

Just the trunklid, so I wouldn't be concerned if you want to respray the whole car later.
More importantly, if it's so cold, why the fuck are you wearing shorts?

I said "a bit chilly", as in it was about 45 degrees when I took that photo, which isn't that bad IMO. But the car has been experiencing 100+- degree days for months.
What should I do in the short term? Touch-up paint that won't really match?

Bummer, that's really annoying. Looks like there primer under there so you don't have to worry about rust. I'd hit it with some 300-600 grit sand paper to smooth the edges out then go over it with touch up paint. I've had good results with this site . Won't look great but short of re-painting the trunk or covering it up with a sticker you don't really have many other choices.

See if there's a duplicolor for your car, and just spray over it. It wont match, but it should prevent the existing paint from peeling really bad... Or you can just put a bumper sticker over the whole area. If you re-spray the car, that stuff all has to come off anyway.
